Two families leave China 100 years ago, This is a journal recording their passage, their so-journ in Borneo and then on to Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, England and beyond. A fascinating account of how time and place have changed the members.

Pigeons,
The Chinese have a phrase, pigeon eyes. Pigeons will like you when you are successful, and they will fly away when you are not. When I was young, there was a family with a successful business. One of the daughter-in-law kept a lot of pigeons. She died of cancer and all her pigeons flew away. Not long after, the business started to fail.
In Auckland, there are many pigeons. People feed them. Woody Allen called them Rats of the sky. In Wellington, people were asked not to feed them. So did my landlady.
